Anna Marie Turner, Tony Lentz, and Alexis Hope, third grade students at SMS, interviewed the new third and fourth grade teachers/teacher assistants and found some interesting information.

Ms. Drew Magee is one of the new third grade teachers. Her hometown is Batesville, Mississippi, but she comes to us from Brumby Elementary in Marietta, Georgia. She is a graduate of Ole Miss and is currently working on her Masters Degree in Language Arts. Although she teaches all subjects, her favorite is Reading. In her spare time, she loves traveling, shopping, and just being in the sun. Ms. Magee thinks the best thing about teaching is getting to know her students and teaching them new things.

Mrs. Kristina Scruggs is the other new third grade teacher. She is married to Cody Scruggs, and they have two children: Grace, their six-year old daughter, and Caleb, their three-year old son. She is from Wyatte, Mississippi and graduated from Ole Miss. Like Ms. Magee, she teaches all subjects, but her favorite is English. When she is not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and always has fun shopping. She finds that seeing the joy on student's faces when they understand what they are learning is the most rewarding thing about teaching.

Our new teaching assistant in fourth grade is Ms. Letitia Smith. She team teaches with Mrs. Jonie King. Her hometown is Coldwater, Mississippi, and she transferred here from East Tate in the Tate County School District. She has a six-year old daughter, Jurniya Smith. Ms. Smith graduated from Northwest Community College. Although she teaches all subjects, her favorite is Social Studies. When she has a moment she enjoys reading, family, traveling, and cooking. She loves to teach because she loves the kids.

New 5th and 6th grade faculty

Madison Nickens, Kylie Billingsley and Eliza Cossar are fifth and sixth grade students at SMS. They interviewed the new fifth and sixth grade teachers and found some interesting information.

Mrs. Jeana Tabor is one of our new fifth grade teachers. Her hometown is Senatobia. She is married to Mr. Mike Tabor, and they have two daughters; Lauren and Samantha. Lauren and Samantha both attend Mississippi State University. Mrs. Tabor graduated from Delta State University. She taught at North Hi Mount School and was an Instructional Specialist at D. McRae Elementary School in Fort Worth, Texas. She and her husband have been Missionaries for the past nine and a half years. She worked in Peru for six years and Ecuador for about three and a half years. She was also a part-time teacher here at SMS last semester. Mrs. Tabor teaches Math and Social Studies. She teaches with Mr. Miles and Ms. Lamar. In her spare time, she loves to cook and read. The thing she likes best about teaching at Senatobia Middle School is building relationships with all of her students.

Mrs. Terri Reeves is a new sixth grade teacher. Her hometown is New Orleans, LA. She is married to Kevin Reeves, and they have two sons; Garrett, who is 14 years old, and Matthew, who is 8 years old. Mrs. Reeves graduated from the University of Mississippi. This is her first year as a teacher here at SMS. She has previously been an assistant and substitute at SMS for four years. Mrs. Reeves teaches with Mrs. Freeman and Ms. Ward. She teaches Language Arts and Social Studies. In her spare time, she enjoys riding horses, fishing and water activities. Her favorite thing about teaching is her students and watching them learn.

The faculty and students are proud that these teachers have joined the SMS community. Welcome aboard!
