Arnold Thompson Bailey

Arnold Thompson Bailey, 80, passed away November 9, 2013 at his home in Coldwater, Miss. Services were held Monday, November 11, at 1:00 p.m. at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Burial followed in Bethel Cemetery.  

Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife, Shirley Ruth Bailey; daughter, Rita Sue Pounders; two sons, Tommy Bailey and Terry Bailey; four sisters, Modean Edwards, Dorothy Frazier, Peggy Johnston, and Linda Moore all of Coldwater; one brother, Butch Bailey of Maine; five grandchildren, Richard Pounders, Leslie Pounders, Rebecca Bailey, Arnold Bailey, and Austin Hobbs; and eight great grandchildren. 

The family requests any memorials be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.


Virginia C. Billingsley

Virginia C. Billingsley, 87, of Senatobia, Miss., passed away November 12, 2013 at Baptist Memorial Hospital DeSoto. Services were held Friday, November 15, at 1:00 p.m. at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Burial followed in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Billingsley. 

She is survived by her two nieces, Patricia J. Hall-Foutch of Wataga, Ill. and Virginia Cherrington of Ottumwa, Iowa; and numerous other nieces and nephews. 

Memorials may be sent to Mt. Vernon Methodist Church where she was a member. 


Dennis C. Carpenter

Dennis C. Carpenter, 45, of Arkabutla, Miss., passed away November 7, 2013 at his residence. Services were held Sunday, November 10, at 2:00 p.m. at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Burial followed in Surrette Cemetery in Arkabutla. 

He is survived by his wife Floy Carpenter; daughters, Tina Dixon and Lillie Murphree all of Arkabutla; son, Landon Lott of Olive Branch; father, Robert Carpenter of Alabama; mother, Janice Sellers of Water Valley; sisters, Cathy Lott of Banner, Miss., Renee Kibble of Oxford, and Melissa Carpenter of Alabama; brother, Afton Carpenter of Alabama; and grandchildren, Tristian Dixon and Sadie Craft.


Alvin E. Carrington, Sr.


Alvin E. Carrington, Sr., 93, passed away Friday November 15 at Senatobia Convalescent Center. 

He is survived by his son Al Carrington Jr. and his wife Tina Carrington; and daughters, Cheryl Carrington and Patty Roos; grandchildren, Tommy Griffith, Matt Carrington, Andrew Carrington, Sharon Latinik, and Janet Geeslin; great grandchildren Ryan Griffith, Noah Geeslin, Carly, Katie, Lacey Nickels, Jacob Latinik, Stevie Williams, and Haley. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Della Carrington and daughter, Glenda Hood. 

“Paw” loved trading cars, fishing, and searching for ‘treasures’ with his metal detector. 

Graveside services were held Monday, November 18, at 2:00 p.m. at Tyro Cemetery. 

Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia had charge of the arrangements.


Elsie Ruth Parks Huber

Elsie Ruth Parks Huber, 99, died November 3, 2013 at home in Oak Park, Calif.  Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 15, at Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home in Fayetteville, Ga. and interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, College Park, Ga. 

Elsie was born in Coldwater on July 22, 1914, and was one of six children born to Enoch Moore Parks, Sr. and wife Ethel Ray Parks of Coldwater.  She accepted the Lord as her savior at a very early age and served Him through the Church of Christ. 

Elsie graduated from Northwest Mississippi Jr. College, Senatobia, and Methodist School of Nursing, Memphis, Tenn., and practiced as a Registered Nurse for a number of years.  She enjoyed spending time outdoors in her flower and vegetable gardens and especially enjoyed basketball and fishing. 

Elsie was preceded in death by her husband Carl E. Huber and one son Ronald E. Huber. Elsie and Carl enjoyed their travels and made their homes in Milwaukee, Wis., Memphis, Tenn., Forest Park, Ga., Lake Wales, Fla., Oxford, and Oak Park, Calif. 

Survivors include three children, Carl D. Huber of Oxford; Richard M. Huber of Jonesboro, Ga.; and Paulette H. Walker of Oak Park, Calif.  Other survivors include one son-in-law James R. Walker of Oak Park, Calif.; two daughters-in-law Merleen Huber of Jonesboro, Ga., and Sherry Huber of Oxford; nine grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Winford Watson

Winford Watson, 70, of Senatobia, Miss., passed away November 11, 2013. Funeral services were held at Independent-Tyro MB Church in Senatobia on Saturday, November 16 at 1:00 p.m. Burial followed in Independent Cemetery in Senatobia.

He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Watson of Coldwater, Katherine Ramsey of Southaven, and Juanite Mays of Southaven; sons, Phil Watson of Coldwater, Jimmy Watson of Hernando, and Joe Lee Watson of Holly Springs; a sister, Louise Callicott of Senatobia; a brother Lucious Watson of Memphis, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.



John Thomas Woods

John Thomas “J.T.” Woods, 81, of Strayhorn, Miss., passed away November 14, 2013 at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo. Services were held Saturday, November 16, at 2:00 p.m. at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Burial followed in Bethesda Cemetery. 

He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Faye Raines (Ron) and Martha Jo Stevens both of Eupora, Miss.; sisters, Mary Lou Watson of Tennessee, Merle Kay Lyles and Pearl Fay Harwood both of Arkansas; brothers, Ray Randall Woods, John Thomas Woods, and Ricky Dale Woods all of Arkansas; nine grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. 

Mr. Woods was a member of Center Hill Church of God.
