A series of recent brushfires has spurred an investigation by the Tate County Sheriff’s Department, according to Senatobia Fire Chief Gary Copeland.
Copeland said the fires have occurred in Looxahoma, Independence, and Wyatte, in areas where there are not many houses.
According to Copeland, the fires began on Thursday, Jan. 16, with four fires blazing at one time on Saturday, Jan. 18. Copeland said there were about 10 fires within a few days.
