Willie B. Gregory Collums

Mrs. Willie B. Gregory Collums, age 91, passed away in Senatobia, on Saturday, February 22, 2014.  

The funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25, at Kimbro Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Longtown Cemetery.

Ms. Collums was a seamstress with William Carter Company in Senatobia, and a member of Strayhorn Baptist Church in Sarah. 

She is survived by her daughter, Doris (James) Montgomery of Senatobia, 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.


Mable Johnson

Mable Johnson, 89, of Arkabutla, Miss., passed away on February 26, 2014 at Baptist Memorial Hospital DeSoto. Services were held on Saturday, March 1, at 12 noon at St. Samaritan Church, where she was a member. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

She is survived by her daughters, Edna Bonner of Memphis, Tenn., Dorothy Hollins of Hernando, Alice Milam of Coldwater, and Evelyn Evans of San Antonio, Texas; sons, Delma Johnson, Jr., Edward Johnson, and George Johnson; 25 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren, and four great-great-great grandchildren.



Lee Anders King

Lee Anders King, 67, farmer, of Senatobia, Miss., passed away on February 18, 2014. Funeral services were held on March 1 at 1 p.m. at Felix Cauthen Funeral Home in Senatobia. Interment followed in Macedonia M. B. Church in Senatobia.

He is survived by two daughters, Monica Bowen of Senatobia and Me Me Thompson of Memphis, Tenn.; two sons, Darryl Bowen of Senatobia and Lee King Jr. of Memphis, Tenn.; two sisters, Alice King of Memphis, Tenn. and Venesar Leverson of Como; two brothers, Willie B. King and Willie Lee King both of Memphis, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.



Michael Shane McMullen


Michael Shane McMullen, 29, of Independence, Miss., passed away February 6, 2014. He served in the Army and was a member of the VFW. Services were held Sunday, February 9 at 2:00 p.m. at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Burial followed in Senatobia Memorial Cemetery.

He is survived by his daughter, Lilly McMullen of Olive Branch; sons, Shane McMullen, Jr. and Eli McMullen, both of Olive Branch; father, Glenn N. (Chip) McMullen, Sr. of Coldwater; mother, Stephanie Thomas of Independence; grandmother, Ruth McMullen of Coldwater; sister, Bobbie Lynn Betts of Southaven; brothers, Roger McMullen of Munford, Tenn. and Beau McMullen of Wyatte.

He was a member of Faith Baptist Church.



Bobbie C. Parker

Bobbie C. Parker, 80, of Senatobia, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – DeSoto in Southaven. 

Mr. Parker was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Coldwater.  

He is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Johns of Houston, Texas, one son Eddie Parker of Ocenside, Calif. and two brothers, Aubrey Parker of Denard, Ark. and Rodney Parker of Russellville, Ark. ; and a host of dear friends.   

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll Vinson Parker and Alice Dunigan Parker.  

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 1, at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Coldwater. A private burial was held in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Memphis, Tenn.

Ray-Nowell Funeral Home – Senatobia Chapel had charge of the arrangements.



Joseph Barkley Reed


Joseph Barkley Reed was born into the arms of the Savior on February 24, 2014 at the North Mississippi Women’s Hospital in Tupelo, Mississippi. His life will be celebrated during a private family service at the Oxford Memorial Cemetery on Thursday, February 27. Waller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He was the beloved son of David Michael Reed and Corrie Barkley Reed of Oxford. 

He is survived by his two siblings, Audrey Catherine and Whitten David Reed. In addition, he is survived by his paternal grandparents, Michael and Susan Reed of Oxford; his maternal grandparents, Dr. Tommy and Bettye Lou Barkley of New Albany. He is also survived by one great- grandparent, Ann Ford Barkley of New Albany.

Joseph was cherished by his parents for the short time he was in their care. He was loved as a child created in the image of God, and we now entrust Joseph’s care to his Heavenly Father.

Alberta Sharp

Alberta Sharp, 46, of Olive Branch, Miss., passed away on February 23, 2014. Funeral services were held at Mt. Olive M. B. Church on Saturday, March 1 at 1:00 p.m. 

She is survived by her husband, Andrew Lee Sharp; a daughter, Jamicha Osby of Olive Branch; two sons, Alivn Buries of Memphis, Tenn. and Joesoski Osby of Olive Branch; two sisters, Mabel Mays of Coldwater and Barbara Ann Wright of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, Maurice Osby of Honolulu, Hawaii and Michael Osby of Memphis, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.

Rodgers Funeral Home in Coldwater had charge of the arrangements.


Barry A. Whitehead

Barry A. Whitehead, 56, passed away February 22, 2014 at North Oak Regional Medical Center.  

Services were held Tuesday, February 25 at 2:00 p.m. at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Burial followed in Magnolia Cemetery in Coldwater.

He leaves his wife, Beverly Whitehead of Senatobia, his daughter, Rachael Willard of Senatobia; sons; Joshua Clay Whitehead of Senatobia, Jacob Wayne Whitehead (Regina) of Senatobia, Jason Willard (Janice) of Strayhorn; his mother, Margie L. Jones Whitehead of Coldwater; his brothers; D.C. Whitehead (Mary) of Coldwater, Michael Bruce Whitehead (Marsha) of Senatobia, and James Alvin Whitehead Sr. (Nancy) of Coldwater; and 13 grandchildren.  

Barry served in the Marine Corps.
