Joshua “J.D." Dunn

Joshua “J.D.” Dunn, 34, of Senatobia, Miss., passed away March 24, 2014. Services were held on Thursday, March 27, at 2:00 p.m. at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Burial followed in Senatobia Memorial Cemetery. 

He is survived by his wife, Shelly Dunn; son, Dillon Dunn; sister, Ashley Dunn all of Senatobia; brother, Eric Dunn (Hannah) of Hawaii; father and mother-in-law, Dwight and Dottie Grace; sister-in-law, Robin Grace all of Senatobia; grandfather, Marcus Fell (Barbara) of Oakland, Tenn.; uncles, Dan Dunn (Diane) of Granbury, Texas, and Rusty Fell (Alesia) of Olive Branch; nephews, Walker Dunn and Bryson Hudspeth, and nieces, Halli Dunn and Brooklyn Hudspeth. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Brenda Dunn.


Georgiana Garrett

Georgiana Garrett, 96, of Senatobia, Miss., passed away March 27, 2014 at her residence. Services were held Monday, March 31, at 12:00 noon at Antioch #1 M.B. Church. Burial followed in Antioch Church Cemetery. 

She is survived by her daughters, Flossie Garrett and Vinear Cobb both of Senatobia; sisters, Alma Saulsberry of Coldwater, Molly Rucker of Missouri, and Annie Mae Pratcher of Missouri and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. 

She was a member of the Senatobia Church of Christ. 

Pate-Jones Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.


Billie Yarber Luttman

Mrs. Billie Yarber Luttman, 74, of the Harmontown community, passed away at her home on Sunday, March 23, 2014 with her family at her side. 

Mrs. Luttman was born on October 3, 1939 to the late Mary Elizabeth McElroy and George Herman Yarber. 

As a retired, but devoted Registered Nurse, she loved taking care of others and aiding people who needed a touch of love. She enjoyed shopping and loved working with her flowers and was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears. 

Mrs. Luttman is survived by her husband, Charles (Bob) Luttman of Como; two daughters, Rosie Hyatt of Walker, La. and Sherry Nelson (Tom) of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sons, Howard (Scotty) Scott of Walker, La. and Garry Luttman (Diane, her devoted caregiver and friend) of Como; two sisters, Bettie Daugherty (Lonnie) of Horn Lake, and Rita Kopp (Bob) of Millington, Tenn.; six granddaughters; four grandsons; 12 great-grandchildren; her beloved dog, Tikki; many loved ones and friends, and her loving nieces, Cheryl, Lisa and Decrecia, to whom she was a second mother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George Hermand Yarber and Mary Elizabeth McElroy Yarber; one daughter, Symenthia Velasquey and one son, Bobby Hyatt. 

Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Senatobia Chapel of Ray-Nowell Funeral Home. Burial followed in Senatobia Memorial Cemetery. 

Ray-Nowell Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.


Robert E. “Bob” Maughan


Funeral services for Robert E. “Bob” Maughan, 69, of Grenada, were at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014, at National Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Elliott Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation was Monday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at National Funeral Home.

Bob died Thursday, March 20, 2014, at UMMC in Grenada.

Robert was born in Memphis on Dec. 25, 1944, and was the son of Jesse Lee Maughan and Mary Ellen Thornton Maughan.

Bob was employed by AT&T as a Fiber Optics Repairman until his retirement. He was a member of the Elliott Baptist Church. He was also a member of the AT&T Pioneers and the Crossroads Cruisers Car Club.

Mr. Maughan is survived by his wife, Carol Martin Maughan of Grenada; one daughter, Kelly Edwards and husband, Cory, of Grenada; one son, Steve Maughan and his wife, Angela, of Grenada; and four grandchildren, Joshua Maughan, Lauren Maughan, Savannah Edwards, and Kaylee Edwards.

Pallbearers were Curry Little, Darrell Franklin, Michael Jacks, Mark Harville, Robbie Roberts, and Lee Fields. Honorary pallbearers were Charles Vance, Eugene Lancaster, Joe Farmer, Lewis Nichols and Richard Cooper.

Quintina “Tina” Woods Moss


Quintina “Tina” Woods Moss, 35, of Horn Lake, Miss., passed away on March 27, 2014 at Methodist Hospice Residence in Memphis, Tenn.

Visitation will be held at J. F. Brittenum & Son Funeral Home in Holly Springs on Friday, April 4 from 10 a.m. until 10:55 a.m.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 5 at 11 a.m. at Thyatira Family Life Center. Burial followed in Tyro-Independence Baptist Church Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Moss of Horn Lake; two daughters, Quinyanah Moss and Mya Moss, both of Horn Lake; a son, Montavious Moss of Horn Lake; mother, Coreen Dean Woods of Coldwater; two sisters, Tibitha Y. Woods of Coldwater and Althea L. Smiles of Los Angeles, Calif.



JD Riley


JD Riley, 79, of Senatobia, Miss., passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2014. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Riley Grace; son, Jim Riley; brothers and sisters, Cecil Riley, Jamie Riley, Dubby Riley, Joe Raymond Riley, LeRoy Riley, Dessie Faught, Ailine Jefferson, Goldie Priddy, and Shirley Kilpatrick. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Deann Grace and Steven Grace.

There was a gathering of friends on Sunday, March 16 from 5-7 p.m. at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch. Services were held on Monday, March 17 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment followed at Senatobia Memorial Cemetery.

Jeanae Spencer

Jeanae Spencer, 34, of Strayhorn, Miss., passed away on March 25, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.  

Services were held on Saturday, March 29, at 1:00 p.m. at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Burial followed in Senatobia Memorial Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Jason Spencer of Strayhorn; sons, Alex and Blake Spencer of Strayhorn; mother, Janet Colvett (Jimmy) of Matthews, Mo.; father, Jeff Ferrell of Mo.; grandparents, Clyde and Mary Ann Pruiett of Caruthersville, Mo.; brother, Jeffrey Ferrell of Hernando; stepsister, Sherra Jackson of St. Paul, Mo.; stepbrothers, Mark Colvett of Southaven, Jeffrey Colvett of Munford, Tenn., and John Colvett of Springfield, Mo.; father and mother-in-law, Eugene and Mae Spencer of Strayhorn, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her sister, Navarete Ferrell; grandmother, Navarete Pruiett; and grandparents, Edward and Dorothy Ferrell.

Memorials may be sent to Crockett Church of Christ, where she was a member.



Kade Vaughn


Mr. Kade Vaughn, age 84, passed away early Monday afternoon, March 24, 2014, at his home in Crenshaw, Mississippi.

A memorial service was held on Sunday, March 30 at 2:00 p.m. in the Crockett Community Center, near Senatobia.  

He worked as a farmer for many years and also worked in the Luggage Factory in Sardis. 

Kade was a member of the Crenshaw Church of God. 

Loved ones whom Mr. Vaughn leaves behind include his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Jean Franks Vaughn of Crenshaw; one daughter, Nancy Vaughn Koger; sister, Erma Ruth Grimsley and brother, Bobby Ray Vaughn, and a granddaughter, Stephanie Ann Koger, all of Crenshaw.
