If you have any news from the communities of Strayhorn, Crockett, Truslow, or Sarah that you would like to have printed in our local paper please call me at 562-4528 or email me at cindysbrewer@bellsouth.net and I will submit it to The Democrat.

Our church family at Crockett Church of Christ has lost another family member. Owen Cluts passed away January 27. Owen was the husband of Mary Jane Carlisle Aldridge Cluts. He was a fine person and will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.

Elaine Carlisle celebrated her 90th birthday on February 4th. Elaine has lived in our community for a long time. She worked as a nurse and took care of the babies at the hospital. She is a special person. Ms Elaine needs our prayers as she has been having some serious health problems lately. Happy Birthday wishes as well as get well wishes are sent out to Ms Elaine.

The Scholastic Book Fair at Strayhorn Elementary School was a great success. Mrs. Cobb would like to thank everyone for their support of this event.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to several people that I know this month that are having birthdays. They are: Ryan Strickland, Keri Brewer, Les (Jazzy) Carey, Tom Osborn, Grace Brewer, Tracey Durham, Charlotte Depriest, Savannah Irwin, Kelsey Ross, Bailey Ross and Eric Reynolds.

March 27 is the date for the class reunion for the 1991 eighth grade class of Strayhorn. It will be held at the Crockett Community Center. No time has been set for this event as of this date. For more information on this reunion please contact J.H. Mize.

Loyce Barmer has been in Methodist Central Hospital suffering from gallstones. He is the brother of Dorothy Hatton.

Jeannie Barmer, sister-in-law of Dorothy Hatton and Loyce Barmer, passed away last week and was buried at Forrest Hill Cemetery.

Jo Beard will be having a nerve block for the pain she is having in her leg. Please remember her in your prayers.

James Strickland has not been feeling well this last week. Please keep James and Mary Joyce in your prayers as James has been sick for quite some time.

The greenhouse at Strayhorn High School will be open for business in the next few months. Keep an eye out for information about what the students will have for sale for your gardens. This is the first year for our greenhouse and we would like to have your input on what we should grow in this greenhouse. Also if you would like to make donations for the start up of this project please contact Darin Case at Strayhorn High School. He will have a list of supplies needed to get this project off the ground. Thanks in advance for your support.

The Strayhorn FFA group is looking for FFA jackets, ties and scarves. If you have any of these items in your closets the FFA members at Strayhorn could really use them. They will be at Northwest Community College on February 25 for the Federation Contest and they will need to be dressed in uniforms.

Just a reminder about events going on at Strayhorn School:

Strayhorn PTO meeting on February 9th @ 6:30 in the cafeteria

Strayhorn Elementary year book sale until February 26

Blood Drive February 17 and 18

Jr. High Beauty and Beau Pageant February 19

High School Beauty and Beau Pageant February 20

Womanless Beauty Pageant February 27

As always, please pray for our country and its leaders and for all the military personnel that are fighting for our country and remember the families of these service men and women.
