Elsie Key DeLoach


Elsie Key DeLoach, 84, passed away September 22, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Memphis. Services were held Wednesday, September 26, at 1:00 p.m. at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Burial followed in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

She is survived by her daughters, Virginia Carolyn Asbell of Senatobia, Peggy Leona Milam of Independence, Shelia Diane Key of Independence, and Angela Kay Musgrove of Memphis, Tenn.; stepdaughter, Teresa DeLoach of Horn Lake; son, William Paul Key of Southaven; sister, Myrtle Alice Key of Hernando; 21 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.


James L. Van Gundy, III


James L. "Jim" Van Gundy, III, 80, was born August 20, 1932 in Freedom, Okla. and passed away September 22, 2012 at his home.

Mr. Van Gundy was a former restaurant owner and a policeman. He was an MP Sgt. in the Marine Corps during the Korean war where he was an honored war hero receiving many medals including a Bronze Star.

He is survived by two sons, Pat Van Gundy and his wife, Kandra of Senatobia and Jimmy Van Gundy and his wife, Janet of Arlington, Tenn.; one daughter, Charlotte Van Gundy Zimmermann of Cordova, Tenn.; his mother, Martha Van Gundy of Colorado Springs, Colo.; nine grandchildren, Chris Van Gundy, Daniel Saine, Brianna Zimmermann, Nici Van Gundy, Robert Van Gundy, Gregory Van Gundy, Cheryl Lynn Van Gundy, Kyle Van Gundy, and Chase Van Gundy; and four great grandchildren, Ashton, Lidia, Meadow, and Scarlett.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia J. Van Gundy; one daughter, Dani J. Moeller; his father, James L. Van Gundy II; and one sister, Jo Van Gundy.

Visitation was held Tuesday, September 25 from 12 p.m. until the memorial service began at 1 p.m. at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven, Miss.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association.

The family would like to express a special "Thank you" to the Memphis Police Department for always protecting the IHOP Restaurant that he owned.


Ruth Ferguson Walden



Ruth Ferguson Walden, 90, died Monday, September 24, 2012 at Providence Place in Senatobia. She was a member of Crockett Church of Christ and was retired from William Carter Company, where she worked as a seamstress for 33 years.

Mrs. Walden is survived by three daughters, Amelia Ann Lentz of Arkabutla, Carolyn Oglesby (Freddie) of Senatobia, and Kathy Neal of Coldwater; one son, John Richard Walden, Jr. (Juanita) of Coldwater; one sister, Bessie Ferguson Bledsoe of Goshen, Ind.; one brother, Ralph Ferguson (Shirley) of Senatobia; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and her dear friends, the family and staff of Providence Place.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John (Johnny) Richard Walden.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 29 at 11 a.m. at Crockett Church of Christ near Senatobia. Burial was in Crockett Cemetery.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Crockett Cemetery Fund.

Ray-Nowell Funeral Home - Senatobia Chapel had charge of the arrangements.
