Jeffrey Rex Collums


Jeffrey Rex Collums, 51, passed away at his home in Senatobia, Miss., on Sunday, December 15, 2012. Mr. Collums was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Senatobia.

He is survived by his wife, Wendy Bruckner Collums of Senatobia; two daughters, Jayme Raye Richardson (Michael) of Cordova, Tenn. and Amanda Collums Marlar (Chris) of Southaven; one son, Clay Jeffrey Collums of Senatobia; one sister, Kelli Rose Collums of Senatobia; one brother, Chris Collums of Southaven; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Marion Joan Welch Collums.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 15 at 2:00 p.m. in the Senatobia Chapel of Ray-Nowell Funeral Home. Burial followed in the LDS Cemetery near Truslow.

Marijean Hardin


Marijean Hardin, 91, of Saltillo, Miss., formerly of Corinth, Miss., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at her son's home in Saltillo, Miss. Visitation was held Friday, December 14, at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia from 1:00 p.m. until 2 p.m. The service began at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14 at Pate-Jones Funeral Home. Rev. Frank Burton officiated. Burial followed in Bethesda Cemetery in Senatobia. Her grandsons served as pallbearers.

Mrs. Hardin was born October 21, 1921, in Senatobia to the late Charles Oscar Pate and Mary Overton Bailey Pate, and was the widow of William Giles Hardin, Sr. A born-again Christian, she was a member of First United Methodist Church in Corinth. Faithful participation in a ladies' prayer group was one of her principal ministries in her church. And indeed, that she "prayed without ceasing", could be said of her until her last day on this earth.

Mrs. Hardin was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Giles Hardin, Sr., her sister, Martha Elizabeth Pate Jones and her brother-in-law, Harry E. Jones, Sr., and by a grandson, Thomas Hudson Scarbrough.

She is survived by a son, William Giles Hardin, Jr., and his wife, Peggy Morrison Wood Hardin of Saltillo, Miss.; by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Hardin Scarbrough and her husband, Ronald Lee Scarbrough of Jackson, Miss.; by eight grandchildren; and by 26 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Hardin's life was marked by service to her family, her friends, and her community. She possessed a giving spirit, and generously shared what she had whenever she recognized an opportunity. She relished time with her children and grandchildren, and was careful to create opportunities to have them around her whenever possible. She had many strong and long-lasting friendships, some forged during her times of waiting at home during her husband's service in World War II and Korea. She was indeed a member of "The Greatest Generation".

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Capital Fund Drive Campaign of 1st United Methodist Church, Corinth, MS, 901 N. Fillmore St., Corinth, MS 38834.


Sedgrice Louis Martin


Sedgrice Louis Martin, 58, of Memphis, Tenn., passed away December 8, 2012. Funeral services were held at Thyatira Church of Christ in Senatobia, Saturday, December 15 at 11:00 a.m. Burial followed in Carter Memorial Cemetery.

He is survived by his daughters, Bianca Martin of Memphis, Tenn. and Andrea Martin; sons, Tuboris Martin of Bartlett, Tenn., Kenyatte Martin of Memphis, Tenn., Chan Martin of Memphis, Tenn.; sister, Wendy Warren of Memphis, Tenn.; brothers, Larry Martin of Senatobia and Andrew "BO" Martin of Memphis, Tenn.; and six grandchildren.


Scott Potts


Scott Potts, 42, of Senatobia, Miss., Deputy Sheriff for Tate County, passed away December 13, 2012. Services were held Saturday, December 15, at 2:00 p.m. at the Senatobia Church of Christ. Burial followed in Senatobia Memorial Cemetery.

Scott was a loving father and loyal friend. He is survived by his daughter, Jeweleigh Morgan Potts; son, James William Potts, parents, Terry and Penny Potts, all of Senatobia; grandmother, Jewel Segars of Marks; sister, Lee Hissong (Greg) of Arkabutla; nephew, Hunter Hissong, and niece, Avery Hissong, both of Arkabutla.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wilsey Potts, and Burlin and Frances Pittman.

The family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Police Benevolent Foundation.

Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia had charge of the arrangements.

Roberta Leatherwood Scott


Roberta Leatherwood Scott, 48, of Independence, Miss., passed away December 12, 2012 at her home. Services were held Friday, December 14, at 2:00 p.m. at Bett Baptist Church. Burial followed in Eavenson-Bett Cemetery.

She is survived by her fiancé, Jerry (Buck) Anglin, of Independence; daughters, Megan Scott, Heather Schellang, and Courtney Anglin, all of Independence; sons, Sean Ambrose, Jake Scott, Lee Scott, and Wess Anglin, all of Independence; sisters, Patricia Lynn Gurley of Independence, and Marilyn L. Jenkins of Hernando; brothers, Thomas Leatherwood of Ripley, Ronald Leatherwood of Independence, David Leatherwood of Fulton, Kenneth Leatherwood of Independence, and James Leatherwood of Pontotoc; grandchildren, Kenneth Layne Ambrose and Macie Lee Johnson; five nieces; two nephews; and nine great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas F., Jr. and Marilyn Leatherwood.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Roberta's name to the Wings Cancer Foundation, 100 N. Humphreys Blvd., Memphis, TN, 38120.

Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia had charge of the arrangements.
