    Chiefs lose to MRA

    The Magnolia Heights Chiefs football team lost to      the Madison Ridglend Academy Patriots of Madison 42-9, Friday, September 25, on Cahill Field.

    Starters for the Chiefs on offense were: Adam Webb and Mike Powell at Tight Ends, Hunter Miller and Andy Gibson at Tackles, Jimmy Braswell and Tyler Lacefield at Guards, Ben Lipscomb, Mac McDonald at Quarterback, Tyler Graves and Ben Billingsley at Halfbacks, and Joe Faught at Fullback.

    On defense the starters were: Lacefield and Webb at Tackles, Jake O'Bannon at Noseguard, Billingsley, Braswell, Faught, Graves, and Eric Chavez at Linebackers, Taz Zettergren and Justin Faulkner at Cornerbacks, and McDonald at Safety.

    Also seeing action were: Adam Taylor, Rob Lishman, Asher Gagne', Alex Geeslin, Kyle McKinney, Will Morgan, Hugh Taylor, Shelby Millwood, Mitchell Ward, Jake Moyer, Richard Price, Patrick Benson.

    In the first quarter, a return of a fumble gave MRA possession on the MH 9. Two plays later, Myres Virden scored on a 5 yard run. Jack Tharp kicked the extra point to give the Pats a lead of 7-0 with 9:27 left.

    Later in the quarter with MRA in possession on the MRS 24 and 4th and 8, the snap was high and the Pats Punter recovered on the 1. FB Josh Faught then ran up the middle for a score with 6:07 left. The kick failed, and the score remained 7-6.

    Later in the quarter, MRA got possession on the MH 34 following a punt. The Pats drove for a score that came on a 4 yard run by Ty Trammell with 8:54 left in the second quarter. Tharp converted to increase the lead to 14-6.

    Later in the quarter, MRA had possession on the MRA 20 following a punt. The Pats drove for a score that came on a 1 yard run by Houston Myhan with 5:11 left. Tharp converted to increase the lead to 21-6.

    Later in the quarter, MRA got possession on the MH 24 when the Chiefs failed to get the punt. The Pats drove for a score that came on a 9 yard run by Myhan with 2:58 left. Tharp converted to increase the lead to 28-6.

    The Pats received the opening kickoff of the second half and drove for a score that came on a 5 yard run with Jake Owen with 8:06 left. Tharp converted to increase the lead to 35-6.

    In the third quarter, the Chiefs had possession on the l6 following a punt. With HB Tyler Graves, HB Ben Billingsley, QB Mac McDonald, and Faught doing the running, the Chiefs drove to the MRA 13. On 4th and 4 from the 13, Will Morgan booted a 29 yard field goal from the 19to narrow the lead to 35-9.
    MRA got their final score on a, 5 yard run by Lane Skinner with 3:02 left. Tharp converted.

    The Chiefs were defeated by an outstanding Patriot Team.

    The Chiefs are now 3-3 and 0-3 in the conference. Friday, October 2, the Chiefs will play Heritage Academy at Columbus, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Chiefs must bounce back and play outstanding ball in order to win.
