    Warriors fight song rings on

One astute Warrior fan commented that you know you've been successful when you hear your fight song 7 times in one night. "Having fought through 4 losses in this still young season, the Warriors and their few, faithful supporters needed a game of domination like this," commented another. There are 2 ways that people can respond to adversity; fight or flight. This is something that continues to separate Senatobia from many of its foes. Even in a season where a win in game 8 would put the team at 500, you can see a real sense of pride. Each game a real victory within itself, the Warriors have been unhindered by early losses in the season.

In sharp contrast to the scoreless first quarter, Senatobia rattled off 17 unanswered points in the 2nd. The penultimate quarter, much like the first (only 7 points) was another precursor to barrage of points where in the 4th Senatobia ripped the Indians for a blackjack; winner, winner chicken dinner! Senatobia's 45 - 0 victory is evidence of such dissimilarity of the season thus far. Pitching the seasons first shut out and nearly doubling the season's highest score of 24, the Warriors seem to be doing something right. In fact, in the first 3 games, where Senatobia went 0 - 3, they were beaten by an average score of 31 - 12. Since then, where the Warriors have gone 3 - 1, they have won at an average score of 23 - 10. For future opponents whose supposition is that the Warrior's 3 - 4 record is indication that they will obediently roll over may, in their assumption, unearth a beast; a rising giant that will not return to sleep.

In response to the shamefully small crowd, one coach told the players, "you have earn the crowd back;" ...a humble response that the boys have clearly responded to. They have won 75% of the last 4 games and yet the stands were emptier this past Friday than this writer has seen in a very long time. It has been said that Senatobia is a "football town." I must admit that I call this into question as a possible misnomer. ANYONE in ANYTOWN USA goes to watch a state championship quality football team play. A football town is truly tested in hardship. Where are the crowds? I hate the idea that perhaps I am observing the rapid decay of local folklore. It is not too late to elude the fair-weather-fan virus. Our next home game, in 3 weeks, is the season finale against Independence - no excuses.

This Friday, the Warriors continue divisional play in their very first trip to Lewisburg High School. It is close in proximity and team that has only been in existence for a few years. Put on your blue, head into DeSoto County and enjoy a game that sounds a lot like a lesson from an American History course, the Warriors and the Patriots!
