Jeannette Parker Bryson
Jeanette Parker Bryson, 86, of Memphis, Tenn., passed away December 22, 2012 at the Senatobia Convalescent Center. Services were held Thursday, December 27, at 12:00 noon at Pate-Jones Funeral home in Senatobia. Burial followed in Longtown Cemetery.
Mrs. Bryson was a retired supervisor for the William Carter Company. She was a member of Rugsby Hills Baptist Church in Memphis.
She is survived by her husband, John F. Bryson of Memphis, Tenn.; three sons, Thomas Parker (Kathy), and Donald Parker (Delisa) both of Sarah, and Jim Parker (Pat) of Clinton, Miss.; a stepdaughter, Karen Hart (Paul) of Bartlett, Tenn.; two stepsons, Dennis Bryson (Deena) of Coldwater, and Bruce Bryson (Wendy) of Garland, Texas; two sisters, Shelby Howell (Dick) of Southaven, and Bobbie Nell Soelberg of Kaysville, Utah; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Billie Bob Gray, Sr.
Billie Bob Gray, Sr. peacefully went to be with his heavenly Father on December 23, 2012 at the age of 88.
He was born in Parker Salem, Miss., to Neetha Eunee Morgan Gray and Walter G. Gray on March 5, 1924.
Services were held Thursday, December 27, at 2:00 p.m. at Senatobia First Baptist Church. Reverend Ed Easley and Reverend Aaron Lewis officiated. Burial followed in Bethesda Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Marie Stewart Gray; his brother, Walter Sherwood Gray; his grandson, Jason Correll Lewis; as well as his stepson, David Durrett.
Mr. Gray was blessed by God with his surviving wife of 25 years, Mary Durrett Gray, and her loving family.
He also leaves two brothers, James Adrian Gray (Jane) of Faulkner and Joe Dean Gray (Helen) of San Antonio, Texas; a son, Billie Bob Gray, Jr. (Holly) of Hernando; two daughters, Ruby Gray Lewis (Aaron) of College Station, Texas, and Pamela Gray Darnell (Lee) of Senatobia; three grandchildren, six great grandchildren and stepchildren, Richard Durrett of Fairbanks, Alaska and Bonnie Sisk (Eric) of Como.
Mr. Gray faithfully served his Lord and loved his family. He was a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Senatobia First Baptist Church, a Gideon, and a veteran of the United States Navy.
Mr. Gray graduated from Ellard High School and Mississippi State University. He started his career in 1947 as a coach and teacher in Calhoun County where he also served as Superintendent of Education. Members of his basketball teams served as honorary pallbearers. He continued his career at Northwest Community College until his retirement in 1982.
Mr. Gray was able to enjoy bird hunting, golfing, and traveling for many years. It has been an honor for each of us to be a part of his life to know him as a loving husband, father, friend, teacher, and coach.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gideon's, the Billie Bob Gray endowment at Northwest Community College, or Senatobia First Baptist Church.
Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia had charge of the arrangements.
Wayne Dale Pate
Wayne Dale Pate, 60, of Independence, Miss., passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Mr. Pate, an avid Nascar fan, is survived by his wife, Judy Kay Pate of Independence; two daughters, Dana Cecil of Independence and Lisa Faulkner of Byhalia; one son, Paul Strickland of Independence; one sister, Belinda Cooley and his mother an stepfather, Norma Ray Ball Boyce and James Boyce, all of Baldknob, Ark.; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dewayne Pate.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 27 at 12 noon in the Senatobia Chapel of Ray-Nowell Funeral Home. Burial followed in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Independence.
The family has requested memorial contributions be sent to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 22718, Oklahoma, OK 73123-1718 or the National Kidney Foundation 30 E. 33rd St., New York, NY 10016.
